Right Index Finger Laceration, Repair, and Resulting Numbness

SKU: C21007

This exhibit depicts a complex laceration of the right index finger and subsequent repairs with resulting deficits. The post-trauma condition illustrates a complex laceration extending from the side of the distal first finger to just above the proximal interphalangeal joint. The laceration is then repaired with sutures, and pain syndrome develops around the laceration site. Subsequent scar tissue formation within the fingertip causes compression of the surrounding neurovasculature, resulting in permanent numbness in the distal first finger. A residual permanent scar can also be seen at the laceration site.
